Layer North

About Layer North

Layer North is a one-printer workshop in West Michigan, run by Grand Roma LLC dba Layer North. What started as fixing broken drawer slides and printing golf ball markers for a Saturday foursome turned into a small catalog of things we're proud to put our name on.

Built layer by layer in West Michigan. That's not a slogan so much as a description of the process.

The setup

Everything ships off a Bambu Lab P1S paired with an AMS 2 Pro — four spools loaded at once, so multi-color prints and quick colorway swaps don't need a human standing at the printer. The same machine feeds the live status page on this site: what you see on the live printer page is the actual state of the workshop, straight off the printer's local network.

Licensing, done right

The 3D printing world runs on shared designs, and the people who model them deserve to get paid. Our rule is simple: we only sell prints we hold commercial rights to. That means our own original designs, or work printed under an explicit commercial license — MakerWorld exclusives, Patreon commercial tiers, Thangs memberships — from creators we support monthly.

Every licensed product page carries an attribution line naming the creator. Behind the scenes, our shop software refuses to publish a product whose license has lapsed — if a membership expires, the listing comes down automatically the same day. No gray-area sales, ever.
